BEN WAS MY FIRST CHILD AND ENTERED THIS WORLD SCREAMING HIS HEAD OFF , ON APRIL FOOLS DAY 1987, I WANTED A BOY SO MUCH AND WAS OVER THE MOON WHEN HE ARRIVED. I CALLED HIM BENJAMIN DANIEL, "BEN " FOR SHORT BUT HIS PET NAME WAS "BENNYBOY".
He went to marton primary school in Blackpool and then on to Collegiate Sports college, he was a prefect and a member of the school football team. He had 5 great years there, his best mates were Ryan Smith,Ryan Heaney, Asa Bentley and kieron Murphy and Nick Price, he also had lots of girl mates Danni Wilson, Abi Brown,Clare White Kelby Dent, Emma Inglis,Amy Perret,Emma Kelton to name a few, but the love of his life was Stacey Taggart, he adored her. Ben and i were very close and i could tell what he was thinking just by looking at him.....we had an amazing telepathy going on!!! He has 2 sisters Megan aged 10 and Ruby aged 6, he also has a step brother Jack aged 12 and Katie aged 9. Ben was attacked in our own home by 3 men,Nathan Butters 17, Darren Butters 27 and Richard Gregory aged 35, he never stood a chance after being beaten 3-1, he was stabbed to death and died before reaching hospital, they also battered my mum, maureen aged 63. They did this over a grudge . as Ben and Nathan had shared a girlfriend and Nathan was jealous. The police said he was "obsessed" with Ben and he had been planning to harm Ben for some 7 months, thats it, a alife ended by the evilness of some one who could not take rejection, he is now serving a life sentence whereas the other2 will be out in 2006 at the latest. My heart is broken, i never expected to lose a child, i miss Ben so much, if i had one chance to see him again i would say "BEN, I ALWAYS LOVED YOU, SORRY FOR ALL THE TIMES I SHOUTED AT YOU OR WAS MOODY AND TIRED, I MISS YOU DESPERATELY BENNY BOY........PLEASE COME BACK TO ME AND YOUR SISTERS BECAUSE LIFE IS TOO HARD WITHOUT YOU". MISS YOU FOREVER XXXX MUM i might laugh now and again Ben and i might enjoy myself, but theres a pain in my heart that will stay with me forever, its there every morning when i wake up and every night when i go to bed. i hope after all the ups and downs in my life ,i can now make you so very proud of me like i was of you. without Brian and Megan and Ruby and jack and katie my step children who give me the strength to get through every day, i would be with you now xxx

DARREN BUTTERS AND RICHARD GREGORY WERE RELEASE ON LICENCE ON 30TH JUNE 2005 , THE REASON GIVEN BY THE JUSTICE SYSTEM WAS THAT THE PRISON WAS OVERCROWDED AND THEY ARE NOT A THREAT TO SOCIETY...WHAT A BLOODY FARCE. NATHAN BUTTERS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERD FOR RELEASE UNTIL AT LEAST 2014.
Football was Ben's passion and he won numerous trophies and medals for his skill.

You loved the computer so much than when mum banned you from it and taped it up you pulled it open at 1 in the morning to go on MSN!
You loved your phone and it NEVER left your side !!

A Poem Writtten By Megan (Ben's Sister)
Our blue eyed brother Bennyboy, Who's going to bath us Ben when mum's doing the tea? Who's going to tell us stories as we straddle on your knee? Who's going to paint our toes and help us plait out hair? No-one can ever replace you Ben so we don't really care. So no more bedtime stories or frolicks in the bath we just want you back Ben so we can laugh and laugh, but we know that it's not possible and our dreams cannot come true but if we could chose another brother then we'd only ever hav chosen you xx
HEY BENNYBOY, DIDN'T YOU JUST HATE THE ALARM GOING OFF IN THE MORNING!!
This was written in the local diocese
magazine by the priest who buried Ben.
IMPRESSIONS Fr Denis Blackledge S.J.
Recently I had the awful and awesome privilege of conducting the Funeral Service of Ben Prunty, the 16-year old local young man who was murdered in his own home one evening a month ago. Here are some impressions from that morning. I’ve never seen so many young people of school-leaving age in church ever before for any service. I felt this was both an enormous tribute to Ben himself as a special individual who had left such a mark on his contemporaries by his own quality and fullness of life. But, perhaps more importantly, it gets rid of the myth and lie that young people either want nothing from the Church, or have little or no sense of the religious. For them, judging by their impeccable sense of respect and their tears of love, it was a deeply spiritual moment in their lives, a moment they’ll never ever forget. I was immensely taken by the words of the Head of Collegiate High, Chris McGrath, and by the Head of Ben’s Year 11, Charlie Pomeroy, as well as by the Poem for Ben, which had been written specially for Ben by one of the young people in his year. The Head of the School spoke with immense warmth and realism, indicating the practical impact Ben had had among his contemporaries and on the whole School. His Head of Year spoke eloquently of Ben’s honesty and courage. And he read out the Reference he would have given to Ben’s employers. When we got to the graveside, I noticed an elderly man nearby in the next row of graves. He was sitting slumped and huddled over the grave, which was clearly new, as the earth hadn’t settled, and there were almost-dead flowers and little windmills fluttering on top. About a hundred people crowded round Ben’s grave, and when I’d finished and had buried him, I noticed the Collegiate High Head with his arm over the shoulder of the old man in the next row of graves. I went over and had chat with them both, and listened to how the chap had lost his wife to cancer just three weeks earlier. Then I went on to meet some of the other family mourners for Ben. But in the corner of my eye I caught sight of Ben’s dad with his arm round that same old man’s shoulders. Ben’s dad had nursed his wife at the Vic, and recognised the old boy as her widower. The scene spoke volumes: a man who had lost his only son so tragically, and had just moments before seen the ultimate moment of real death - the lowering of the coffin into the new grave - and who now had time to think of his neighbour…
